Bucktown Real Estate
Bucktown is one of Chicago's hippest neighborhoods. Located immediately adjacent to Chicago's downtown on the city's near northwest side Bucktown real estate offers residents appealing landmark architecture, tree-lined streets, and a short, two-mile drive to downtown Chicago. Located in the Logan Square community of the northwest side of Chicago, Bucktown was originally a blue-collar community that derived its name from the goats ("bucks") that freely wandered the streets.
Today Bucktown is an upscale art-influenced neighborhood where bucks are more commonly associated with bank accounts than livestock. Artists were originally drawn to the area by affordable renting and close proximity to Chicago’s Loop and expressways. These artists started the rejuvenation of the neighborhood, beautifying it and leaving a lasting impression in the form of annual art fests like "Around the Coyote" and the Bucktown Art Fair.
Bucktown is primarily a residential community with homes ranging from converted industrial lofts to townhouses, from seven-figure luxury single-family homes to vintage cottages. Recent down-zoning has shifted new condominium development to peripheral streets like Damen Avenue, North Avenue, Armitage, and Western Avenue. Newer buildings still retain three- to four-story limits - giving residents a welcome break from the huge skyscrapers that dance along downtown Chicago streets.
Bucktown has a unique nightlife charm found in its many bars and lounges, late-night music clubs, and theaters. A vary wide array of diverse restaurants are also be found here, including both family-oriented and upscale full-service dining. Bucktown is a hot destination for shoppers with stores with the latest/greatest in clothing and furniture. Art continues to thrive in Bucktown with many galleries and several vibrant festivals. |
