Old Irving Real Estate
Irving Park and the Northwest Side of Chicago in general is an area known for its historic homes, convenient shopping areas, rehabbed buildings, bars and restaurants. Old Irving Park, bounded by Montrose Avenue, Pulaski Road, Addison Street and Kostner Avenue, is a montage of historic architecture with Queen Anne, Victorian, and Italianate homes, vintage farmhouses and elegant bungalows that are in various stages of renovation or preservation.
Irving Park is comprised of smaller neighborhoods that include Old Irving Park, Irving Park, Albany Park, and the Villa Historic District. Considered by its residents to be an oasis amid the city, Irving Park is a quiet community favored by couples raising families. What's interesting in this neighborhood is that while the sub-neighborhoods abut each other, they have different feels and flavors.

The early 1980s saw a rebirth for Irving Park as a wider audience discovered the beautiful homes and rich history of the area. The Irving Park Historical Society was formed in 1984 to help preserve this heritage and the irreplaceable architecture that had survived since the city's earliest days. Since then many homes have been restored and many more restorations are in progress. Many of the homes built in the 1870s and 1880s survive today. The Irving Park Historical Society has documented several hundred buildings still in use that predate 1894. Some remain intact, some have been slightly modified and others retain just a hint of their former Victorian splendor. |
